Kundalini Yoga Cardiff

Ali 16

I'm a girl who loves yoga, vegan food, independent cafes, singing, colour mixing, getting covered in clay, drawing blindfold, walking in the woods and ambling barefoot doing cartwheels on a beach.

I love to be in, on, or near water, and exploring woodlands and mountains.

I am always up for an adventure and I have a bizarrely keen sense of smell!

I am a professional artist with a PhD in Ceramics, and I teach experimental drawing and ceramics at a community arts centre.

I was first introduced to yoga and spiritual practices in my early 20s whilst working in a holistic therapy centre cafe called 'The Source'. This inspired me to practise Ashtanga Yoga for the next 10 years, - an intensely physical and athletic style of yoga which anchored me through the stress, pressure and anxiety of my postgraduate studies. It was an absolute life-saver!

Whilst dabbling in Tai Chi in my late 20s, my spiritual journey (as I now call it) took an unexpected turn following a mysterious and mind-boggling event whereby my mother, who found herself unable to walk due to agonising pain caused by spinal issues and sciatic nerve damage, was offered something called 'distant-healing' by the spiritual teacher of a Japanese friend, who lived in Japan! Following a series of bizarre synchronicities, the pain swiftly subsided and my mother avoiding major surgery and started walking again!

This life-changing experience inspired me to train in Reiki (Universal Energy Healing) Levels 1 & 2 with Lorraine Rees in Swansea, and then Chakra Balancing (using Tibetan singing bowls on and around the body, combined with accupressure) with Acharya Yogesh in Goa, India. However, it was my experience of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation in India that was the real game-changer for me - providing me with tools and methods to assess, experience and transform my own physical, mental and emotional state through breath, movement, mantra, mudra (hand-positions) and mindset.

And so the magical journey continues...

I trained as a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Teacher with Karam Kriya Yoga School in Glastonbury/Portugal, as a Gong Healer Levels 1 & 2 with Preet Kaur in Glastonbury, as a Starchild Yoga Teacher with Siri Arti in London, and as a Radiant Child Yoga teacher (with Sue Ducross) in Glastonbury.

I began sharing these empowering teachings in Cardiff on February 29th 2016, in the form of regular classes, private 1:2:1 sessions, workshops and retreats, and continue to do so from my little yoga studio in Roath, Cardiff called 'The Courtyard Studio' (just off Wellfield Rd), and at various other venues across Cardiff and south Wales.

Amar means undying, continuous or beyond time. Jot refers to light. Kaur is a name that all women receive - the Princess/Lioness of God who walks with grace and power throughout her life. The kundalini teachings state that every woman has the potential to attain this divine state and encouraged all to manifest it.

I go by Ali and Amarjot Kaur, so you can call me whichever feels right for you.
